Why Is It Important?

The hard truth is, far too few young students
are preparing to earn engineering and other
technical degrees during the coming decade
and beyond. The reasons? Lack of interest.
Lack of exposure. Lack of critical skills.

The Institute for Engineering Education at
SMU has been established to facilitate
collaboration among universities, K-12
educational organizations and corporate
entities to address the issues related
to the shortfall in engineering and technical
talent. The Institute will develop and deliver
national programs that present engineering
as a fun, exciting and challenging career
opportunity tothe generation that will soon
take the reinsof the technology revolution.
